It's weird for me to post about a winter outfit since Thursday I wore sandals and a t-shirt in nearly 80ºF weather. Another thing that's strange is that although I'm not a fan of living in places with actual winter weather, I adore tall boots, leather gloves, wooly hats, and long skirts, so here I am.

Our second visit to San Francisco in 2011 was a mix of old favorites (North Beach, touristy Fisherman's Wharf) and new sights. We did lots of wandering around in search of Fair Trade coffee for breakfast (found some in the Haight), a little vintage shopping and of course lots of eating.

The food, the music, the atmosphere: nothing says summertime like a good street festival. This year's Sicilian Festa did not disappoint. Held annually in San Diego's Little Italy, this year visitors got to squish grapes (with their feet!), savor arancini and discover a bit of San Diego Harbor's Sicilian heritage.

I've used Aveda products for several years now, mostly because of their earthy fragrances and natural ingredients. Whether or not I will always be OK with a little kitsch in my home remains to be seen, but for now I am 100% delighted with kitsch. We're pleased, very pleased, with a local cheese shop called Venissimo. Isaiah and I recently spent about $20 on two slivers of cheese, but it was totally worth it.
