So, I recently joined a local mamas group on facebook. I haven't gone to any events yet, but it seems to be a group of women with parenting styles similar to mine. The organizer recently posted one beauty of a baby carrier. Meet ObiMama. Handmade and one-of-a-kind. You can wear your baby and wear a piece of art at the same time. Wow!
This baby carrier is an Asian mei tai style. It's like for hardcore babywearers.
I am a little intimidated by the ladies in the group because they seem to wear their babies in wraps I have never seen or heard of or understand how they got tied on. What will they think of me when I roll up in my Moby Wrap (just starting to figure that thing out) or Beco Gemini (Made in USA and super easy to use and, of the two, is the only carrier Isaiah will use)?
There is a light at the end of the tunnel. The group's organizer is trying to start a baby wrap/carrier lending library, which is awesome because with the number of baby carrier choices out there, it can be overwhelming and expensive. It would be great to try different ones out to see what works for you and baby instead of spending a bunch of money on carriers that you don't end up using.

uh, yah, i can't believe how expensive those things are. i just got one, some wrap one and i liked it a lot. altho he IS a tank now so it hurts my back but i'll use it for short walks. (i have a wonky back!) i loved carrying him like that when he was small!
ReplyDeleteToo bad they don't stay that small very long! :(
